“What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” - 2 Timothy 2:2
Our desire is to carefully obey the New Testament, and help raise up the next generation of pastors to serve the Body of Christ.
There are six objectives to Friendship Baptist’s Pastoral Internship Program:
I. Spiritual Growth
Each intern will actively pursue spiritual growth through structured reading, studying, and group discussions.
II. Help for the Church
Each intern will commit time to serving the church and helping meet ministry needs within the body.
III. Mentoring Relationships
Each intern will receive personal mentoring from the Pastoral Staff and lay Elders of Friendship Baptist.
IV. Leadership Formation
Each intern will be shaped and learn by observation as he attends elders meetings, deacon meetings, and various staff meetings and planning sessions.
V. Serving other Churches
Each intern will have opportunities to help strengthen our partner churches from the Park Circle family of churches (Park Circle Baptist Collective).
VI. Personal Development
Each intern will develop a plan to address one or two major areas of weakness each year that they attend the program.

Program Overview:
Friendship Baptist’s internship program is completed over a three-year period. The first two years being an internship with a focus on Theological Development (head) and Pastoral Development (heart), while the third year will be a residency focused on Experiential Development (hands).
Important things a Pastoral Intern will learn and study include things such as Biblical and Systematic Theology, Church History, and faithful Bible Interpretation. Interns will also be given opportunities to practice their gifts such as preaching, teaching, and leadership.
Vision & Goals:
We want to provide a place for younger men to mature and develop as shepherd-leaders. Paul exhorted Titus, “Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned” (Titus 2:6-8). We believe that in order for younger men to learn self-control they need models to follow! We also believe they need models of faithful teaching to emulate and pattern themselves after as well as opportunities to learn and teach. All of this is to help young men cultivate and grow their aspiration toward pastoral ministry.
Therefore, our goal is to provide a pastoral training program to prepare such God-called men to serve as the next generation of faithful pastors. Whether that would be as an elder of Friendship Baptist, other local churches, and/or serving in vocational ministry, we want to invest in those that aspire to the office of overseer, for they desire a noble task (1 Timothy 3:1).
